Jason's New Obsession

I know I was stupid to think as a mother of 5 boys that sports might not be a huge part of our life, but call me stupid!! Jason has OCD for ESPN and any sports right now, and I'm sick and tired of having to watch all of it!!! It started 2 weeks ago when he was home sick on Friday and he watched it all day long. Now anytime he's around he turns it to any sports channel. Crap, what happen to good old cartoons. I even miss Sponge Bob or at least something that I will watch. And now he wants me to order sports magazines and spend all of his money on sports hats and jerseys.
The only cool thing that has come out of this was a sports accident show he watched which showed a digustinly awesome hockey accident. The goalie almost got his head sliced off by a skate. Yes, he lived. AHHHHH, it's already poluting me. I gotta go watch some Office or Jane Austen.

Nick a High Five Kid!

Eat your heart out Suns fan's, Nick got to be a high five kid. PopPop and Nana Gardner have season tickets a therefore get to put in a name for the high fives. Jason was one years ago and Nick was heart broken then. Trevor got to be one the first of this season and then Nana got a call about one opening up the last game of the regular season. They signed Nick up but he was not as excited as I thought he would be. I guess the cut off age is 12 and he's 12 1/2 and so a "teengaer" soon. It didn't help that they messed up and called him Trevor and in 4th grade. In the later pics he's telling the gorilla and all the kids, "My name is Nick and I'm in 6th grade!!!". He really loved the expreience and got to watch the game with his Dad in the "cheap seats" while Nana and PopPop sat in the good ones. Thanks to the elder Gardner's for the experience of a lifetime!

Honorable Liz and Alene's 30th

As for the rest of the party, we had many surprises in store for our guest and birthday girls. After having a meal of take out Chinese food, we had a game with 3 partners on a team that had to race around my pool holding a marshmallow with chopsticks, handing them off to their team mates. Sadly, I have no pictures but please use your imagination. We then had the taste testing. I think Chrissy, or at least I did, had the most fun with this one. We went to Lee Lee's market (a experience in it's own) and found some weird foods to have the contestants try. Actually it was a setup to surprise the birthday girls with some "special" cakes Leslie so lovingly and disturbingly made.(and no they aren't pictured) Then we brought out the real cakes. I gotta say how impressed I was with Jenn and Leslie's talents with these Sumo cakes. I think they should go into business. It was a great night and Happy 30th Birthday to Alene and Liz. Also a big thanks to all who helped with this great night.
- For more pictures, Liz and Alene have them on their blogs.-

Chinese Birthday party for Liz and Alene

So Chrissy and I decided to throw a party that was completely different then some of our last ones. We went with a Chinese theme and boy did we have fun! We made place mats for each lady that told about their Zodiac sign. Shelley even had them laminated for us. We set the backyard up as a zen like state with floating flowers in the pool, the waterfall running, low tables, and seating on pillows. We even made everyone eat with chopsticks which didn't go as bad as I thought.

First BBQ and Swim Party of the Season

Cole and I had the Hatches and Millers over for the first Swim party of the season. We love having them over to eat and always try out the "new" stuff out on them. Our own gourmet guinea pigs if you will.
Cole had decided to make our own sausages, hence the first two pictures. They turned out really well. He smoked most of them and grilled the rest.

Yes, the grill does need to be cleaned and that is not one of my jobs!

The Gardner, Hatch, and Miller kids swimming.

Amy and Jen out by the pool. One of the only pictures I have of them. They usually are elusive when the camera makes it's appearance.

Nemo On Ice!

We have never been to a Disney on Ice or anything like it. We were either to poor at the time or Cole told me no at the time. This year I talked Cole into it but the three older boys balked at the idea. "Baby stuff", I was informed. Well we ended up taking just Ryan and Erik and at least they seemed to enjoy it. It was fun for the four of us. If you guys ever decide to go I have a few tips. I advise you to buy early and get the half priced tickets and do it while you have young kids. Also, bring cash if you decide to buy the neat but outgrgious priced themed snacks. The older boys were right, there was no "teenagers" there.

Our April Fools Birthday Boy.

Trevor turned 10 yesterday. He had a great birthday. He woke up to find a brand new bike and helmet at the foot of his bed. He also got a Indian flute from Nana and Pop Pop, a homemade quilt with his name stitched in it from the Hendricksons, $20 from Grandpa and Grandma Hatch, Pokemon action figures from the Hatch girls, and 30 candy bars from Leslie, Mel, and Alene. You girls know that Pop Pop retired from dentistry, right!?! His Aunt Afton also wrote a great blog entry about him. We love you so very much Trevor and are glad you are a part of our family.
